Wiertz Company was founded in 1997 by Harm Wiertz and Dionne Wiertz-Buck. They both worked until then at a large international listed staffing organization. Harm started here in 1985, so he has been active in employment mediation for almost 40 years at this time. Dionne started there in 1996 after completing her HBO education in PR and Information in Tilburg. They fell in love, soon got into a relationship……and they thought that job placement could be different, that it could be better. That service should come first and not the price of stock market, sales or profits.
That it should be about finding a job that really suits someone and finding employees who really fit a company.
These are the motives for starting Wiertz Company on April 30, 1997. The first office is located on Oranjestraat in Kerkrade. The opening is on Queen’s Day. The chosen house color for the company, orange, is therefore obvious. A color that stands out and stands for fun, humor and optimism.
Clients and job seekers present themselves. It is busy. Dionne and Harm can no longer cope alone and expand. Intermediaries are hired. Wiertz Company is solid as a rock. More and more clients and employers outside Kerkrade are calling on the service. That is why Dionne and Harm decide to build a branch organization. Heerlen is opened, then Maastricht and slowly the whole of Limburg turns orange. When the borders of Limburg are reached the realization grows that Wiertz Company can expand outside Limburg. Job seekers and employers are entitled to it. But also because the continuity of the company requires a solid foundation and volume.
Continuity and foundation provide fundamental choices in recent years. A solid foundation is the basis for balanced growth. For this reason, we are professionalizing governance in 2017. With the governance triangle and separate roles for shareholder-supervisor-management. And to ensure the continuity of the family business also to the next generation, founders Dionne and Harm are transferring 90% of their shares in Wiertz Company to their children Niklas, Martijn and Willeke.
Since the start in 1997 Wiertz Company has grown into a leading family business in the field of people and work throughout the Netherlands. The working area was further expanded after the acquisition of family business de Pooter. And with activities in Germany, Poland and the rest of Europe, the international ambition continues to be fulfilled.
The family business – together with a team of 130 professionals and within professional governance – is shifting stones step by step in the river of the labor market.
